The first step is to call and tell us briefly about your situation. We'll then provide a recommendation for your next steps, which may be...
BioPsychoSocial Evaluation: A person's well-being is influenced by many factors that ultimately reflect in his /her attitude and behavior. Biological phenomena such as undiagnosed medical conditions (e.g. thyroid disease, stroke), psychological forces such as work related stress or maladaptive personality characteristics, and social forces such as marital discord or loneliness can each separately and cumulatively contribute to emotional discomfort, behavioral dysfunction, and other medical symptoms and problems. At Mental Health Advocates, Inc. we perform a telephone screening and schedule the comprehensive evaluation by a mental health professional, followed by initiation of treatment by our psychiatrist or one of our psychotherapists, or enrollment in one of our clinical research programs, whichever is indicated.
Psychopharmacology: In the past 10-20 years there has been an explosion of information about the neurosciences and brain based chemical receptors with greater specificity than ever before. As a result there are more effective medication products that can treat anxiety, depression, psychosis, insomnia and a host of other symptoms and conditions. At Mental Health Advocates, Inc. we perform a telephone screening and then provide a comprehensive biopsychosocial evaluation in our clinical program, with referral back to our research division if eligible for participation in one of our clinical trials.
Psychotherapy: Any person who demonstrates the capacity and interest in participating in dialogue is a candidate for treatment in psychotherapy in our clinical division. We provide supportive, insight oriented, and cognitive behavioral therapies for individuals, couples and / or families. We have special expertise in geriatric psychopharmacology and in evaluating drug induced movement disorders such as tardive dyskinesia.
